"Before our daughter joined the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy she found it very difficult to make friends, join in play at school, and to even enter a new place was very difficult for her. Through Janet’s encouragement and the Drama lessons, our girl’s self-confidence has grown and she now does all of the above quite easily, as well as being able to speak confidently in front of her school, and at the end of year performance or show days. Thank you for helping bring out the best on our daughter. "

CHRISTINE, WARWICK, QLD
“Just a note of thanks for making Eliza so comfortable in your drama lessons"....She comes home with such enthusiasm every Thursday, it is just a joy to see. We tried other classes, but she kept telling me it was not what she wanted. Now she tells me she has found it!” " ... to thank you for the benefits Felicity & Riley are receiving academically and socially as a result of their drama lessons. The following are areas in which they have both enjoyed success as a direct result of the communication skills they are developing. Felicity was elected as student leader in her last year of primary school ... as a result of a process that included an oral presentation and interview. She was also awarded senior public speaking champion. Riley was assessed for public speaking and was marked 100% on both occasions. His teacher commented that his skills ......were very advanced for his age. He was voted student Council representative for his grade. the process involved an imptromptu speech followed by a prepared speech. It is very gratifying to their communication skills developing and the children succeeding as a direct result." KELLY, BRISBANE, QLD "We have sent both our boys to the Helen O'Grady Drama Classes. They have both loved it, and as a bonus, gained important skills to assist them personally, and in school. The eldest attended for six years, and his brother is currently enjoying his 3rd year. Both boys have become confident speaking in front of others, as well as interacting in team situations with their peers. School and work in the twenty first century place great emphasis on both oral presentations and group work, and their involvement in Helen O’ Grady Drama has given them that critical confidence to do both things, and quite simply, it's the best start for school, and later work, that we can give them." BERNIE & LEISA, AVOCA , NSW “My children have been involved with the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy for three years. As an extra-curricular activity to their schooling, I consider it an extremely beneficial and wonderfully rewarding programme for them. The children’s weekly classes always result in smiling faces and eagerness, when they consider the theme for the next lesson. In today’s society, where competition is cut throat, I find it blissfully satisfying to have my family involved in a programme that promotes self-confidence, awareness of presentation & speech, group participation, co-operation and especially having pride and enjoyment in what they do.” KERRI & MARK , MT ELIZA, VIC “I would just like to let you know how impressed I have been with the drama classes that Sally has attended. I have noticed a great change in Sally’s confidence over the past couple of years and her school teachers have also commented. Probably one of the things that I was most impressed with was the amount of fun that Sally had and her thrill of being involved in a such a professional performance at the end of each year.” JENNY, LANGWARRIN, VIC. Our son has always come home from class glad to have been there, happy and well behaved. He clearly enjoys the activities and the interactions with others. His experience at the Academy has definitely contributed to his personal growth, confidence and self worth.” SUE, LOWER MITCHAM, SA “We owe you both a huge ‘thank you’ for tapping into Hannah’s creative abilities and boosting her self confidence. As you know, the first few weeks were not easy, but perseverance has paid off and we can all see the difference in Hannah’s attitude to life in general. It is not only Terry and I who notice the changes, but friends, teachers and relations also. Sending her to drama has been one of the most positive influences in her life.” TERRY & CHERYLE, ALBANY CREEK, QLD. "Our daughter enrolled in the Helen O'Grady Children's Drama Academy as a six-year-old. She was very shy when she was required to speak to adults -grandparents, uncles, aunties, teachers and adult friends. She had difficulty in making eye contact with people and, in a one-to-one encounter, her voice was inaudible. We were hoping that drama lessons would enable her to become a more confident speaker in the presence of adults. The Drama Academy has exceeded our expectations. Our daughter is developing into an articulate and confident speaker who represents her school in debating, who was elected to her School Parliament, who played a major role in a school musical, and who recently received a Junior Citizenship Award from the Local Rotary Club. Her successes have been due in no small part to the skills, knowledge and confidence that she has acquired in her five years with the Drama Academy." FIONA & PETER, TOUKLEY, NSW “My daughter has been with the Academy for only two terms and I’m excited to say she is finding a positive way to channel her energy. Amy enjoys drama and the fantasy world and this gives her a great platform to experience situations in a protected and informed environment. It was a thrill to see all the children perform mid-year. It hit home how much they have learned and how fabulous they all were. Well done teachers and students!” SUE, EMERALD, Vic |
